Stuck between a class and a fast pace.

I am a very busy person. I am fortunate enough to be a student athlete at the division I level. Now, for most assignments that I must complete for school the only concern that I face is a time management concern, however, journalism courses – and the assignments that they have – present a different concern; an ethical concern. For this assignment we had to cover an event related to ISU or the Bloomington-Normal area and was also related to the topic of our blog. A collegiate track and field meet, especially a historic one like the Meyo Invitational, fits perfectly with my blog’s identity, the only catch was that I was competing in the meet. Obviously reporting on a team’s event while you are a competing member of that team is a conflict of interest but I had no other option, so this assignment was an interesting exercise in objectivity and reporting on a topic/event that I had a personal connection with. Overall, I thought that it went well and that it was an interesting experience getting to wear two different hats on the day… oh and I ran a personal best time too!

Here I am (hip #12) roughly 2360 meters into the 3K. I ended up getting second with a time of 8:17.48.
